Hazel Grace Lancaster is a teenage girl living with cancer who attends a support group. There, she meets Augustus Waters, a charismatic boy in remission. They quickly form a deep bond and fall in love.
They share a love for a novel called An Imperial Affliction, which leads them to travel to Amsterdam to meet its reclusive author. However, the meeting is disappointing and does not provide the answers they hoped for.
Soon after, Augustus’s cancer returns aggressively, and his condition rapidly worsens. He eventually dies, leaving Hazel heartbroken but profoundly changed by their relationship.
