Barbara Parker leaves her small hometown, moves to London, and becomes an actress under the name Sophie Straw. She lands the lead role in a 1960s sitcom that quickly becomes a huge success and makes her a national star.
Behind the scenes, however, the cast and writers face personal tensions, ambitions, and frustrations. As Sophie’s fame grows, she has to deal with the pressures of celebrity, complicated relationships, and the gap between public image and private life.
