Jean Louise “Scout” Finch returns to Maycomb, Alabama, as an adult and is shocked to discover that her father, Atticus Finch, holds racist views she strongly disagrees with. This revelation challenges her childhood admiration for him and forces her to rethink her beliefs and identity.
As she confronts the reality of her hometown and family, Scout struggles with disappointment and disillusionment. In the end, she begins to form her own independent moral outlook.
