Backpack is a communicative-based series integrating the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) with attention to grammar and vocabulary development. Through a motivating mix of photographs, illustrations, stories, poems, chants, songs, readings, exercises, games, and projects, students learn to communicate in English about themselves and the world around them. Program features include: *Starred Grammar boxes which serve as models for students *Little Book story inserts (Levels 1-3) that can be removed and folded by students to create a book *A magazine-like feature (Levels 4-6) with short readings related to the unit theme, mini-quizzes, jokes, cartoons, puzzles, contests, and more *Listening comprehension exercises which use grammar and vocabulary in communicative contexts *Chants incorporating target grammar and vocabulary related to the unit theme
