The Chrysalids is a post-apocalyptic novel about David, a boy living in a strict society that rejects any form of mutation. He discovers that he and some other children are telepaths, which they must hide. When their secret is revealed, they are forced to flee but are eventually rescued by a more advanced society that sees their ability as the next step in human evolution.
