In a dystopian future, the United Kingdom has been split into four separate regions, each designed for people with different personality types. Citizens are separated from childhood and placed into strict social categories, living under heavy government control.
The story follows Thomas Parry, a boy taken from his family and assigned to one of these regions. As he grows up and becomes a government official, he begins to question the system he serves.
Gradually, he uncovers the truth behind the division of the country and realizes how deeply the state controls identity, freedom, and human behavior.
